Happy July 4th!

Just another in a string of Holidays spent in isolation.

My apologies for the long absence. My job in Home Healthcare has been CRAZY the past month and 2020 in general has been a struggle in many ways: mentally, emotionally, and physically.

I like to share positive changes and new growth, but so far my life is all about keeping my head above water and my depression and anxiety at bay. I have been somewhat successful: as in only a few Anxiety meltdowns, and usually keeping a smile on my face.

How are YOU doing half-way through 2020?

Are you still in isolation mode?

Connecticut, USA is starting to open up, and friends are still anxious about socializing. The COVID guidelines have business in a state of constant fear of being shut-down by any complaint.

What are you doing to keep your spirits up?

If you’re in the USA, how are you getting through these Holidays that are not feeling like holidays?

I’m trying to celebrate!

What Are YOU Inviting Yourself to Experience?

Art Journal 39/100

I INVITE YOU TO…

How will YOU answer that question?

Today, the sun is shining the allergens are low and I am sitting in the sun.

Today, I made time for Art Therapy with my group via Zoom, not something I’ve allowed myself for a few weeks.

Today I invite myself to embrace my child-like joy.

Today I invite myself to BE IN THIS MOMENT.

Today I invite myself to Dance, without judgement.

Today I invite myself to Breath with ease.

Today I invite myself to be FREE: of judgement, guilt, and the “shoulds”

Today I invite myself to laugh and smile for NO REASON.

What will YOU invite yourself to do?

2020: The Year of Living Virtually

I’m perusing through our local paper and hit the “Arts & Events” page. I stop! Arts & Events??? What??? I thought we were”Shut Down!”

Then I read and realize… everything is “Virtual”: Facebook Meeting… Zoom Event… Virtual Tour.

I’m thinking we will look back at 2020 and realize it was the TRUE COMPUTER AGE! The age of looking at everyone and everything through a screen: TV screen, Computer screen, Phone screen, Window screen and… the screen door.

How many “virtual” events have you attended?

My daughter has “virtual” school every day.

All of my work is done via computer or phone… and occasional snail mail.

I’ve been attending a weekly art group through Zoom, and our family has celebrated 3 birthdays via Zoom “Parties”

What do you see as the most interesting or memorable part of Quarantine 2020: The Year of Living Virtually… or “Social Distancing”?

What events in your life were experienced differently?

Inquiring Minds want to know!

My New Favorite App!

Last week my sister sent me an invitation to this app. I’ve been enjoying the app.

Everyday, this app, gives you a quote or joke… something to inspire or make you laugh.

Each day has a theme and a host of questions to help you think about what’s important to you. You can answer one question,or all of them!

Then, you can have conversations with others by sharing likes, dislikes, experiences, thoughts on life… and they can respond! Friends, family, and even love notes for your special someone.

I must admit, at first I was skeptical. Since starting, my sister and I have shared some fun and silly thoughts. My husband and I have shared some sweet love notes.

Now, everyday, I look forward to a new theme, a new question, or new insight into people I care about.

Do What You Can

Artist unknown

This is always a good idea. Today, it’s more important than ever.

With all the news and being self-quarantined, it’s very easy to fall into a pit of self-pity, feeling useless and stuck.

Look around you and see what project you’ve been putting off. YouTube and other channels (like Great Courses or TED Talks) offer great podcasts, talks, and videos on all sorts of topics, causes, projects, skills… Learn something NEW! OR, pickup an old hobby. Enjoy quite time and use it for self reflection and personal growth. Build stronger relationships with the loved ones you live with. Write letters to friends and loved ones far away. Be an example.

However you choose to deal with this weird world we are living in, PLEASE Self-DISTANCE!!! Stay home, if your job does not require you to be out.

PRAY for the medical staff, police, emergency workers, Home Health Aids, Grocery and Pharmacy workers, city workers, bankers, plumbers, electricians, and others that HAVE to be out, and At Risk. PRAY for the families who worry and support them. These HEROES show up so that we can be safe. DON’T take their sacrifice lightly.

STAY HOME, so those who can’t STAY SAFE 🙏.

The Golden Ring of Russia. Photo 1 — SCENOVELA

I absolutely LOVE everything about this photo. Looking at it makes me smile, not just my face, a Full Heart Smile. I’ve always found trees to be beautiful. Trees speak to me on a spiritual level: joy, sorrow, pain, laughter. It’s all mixed up inside of me. The bird in this picture makes me think of HOPE.

Right now, I am always looking for ways to keep hope alive. Hope for this quarantine to end. Hope for all those that are sick, heal. Hope for all the families and friends of loved ones survive the pain of loss. Hope that our love of humanity wins out over political and social differences that are tearing our country apart at the seams. Hope for a better tomorrow for my daughter and all the children growing up in this surreal atmosphere of isolation, fear, and blame.

This beautiful photo by Russian Photographer makes me realize that though our world is wide, it is also very small. We may be in different parts of the world, speak different languages, experience this pandemic in completely different ways…. but nature is always there. There are trees and birds and seasons and reasons to look for beauty in the everyday.

Connecticut in Bloom!

April Showers bring May Flowers!

Some years this is true… some years, not so much.

I’ve lived in New England for 20 years. In that time, there have been years we’ve seen Spring at the end of March, then there have been years there was no sign of Spring until June!

I am so grateful THIS YEAR we are seeing Spring flowers in April. With Coronavirus leading to quarantine and Social Distancing, Nature has been my saving grace. Bringing blue skies, cool breezes, and new blooms giving me a reason to hope, a reason to smile, and a tick on my gratitude list.

Angel Watching Over Me

Something I made a few years ago while art journaling with Pastels.

Today, when I was feeling so anxious… looking at it reminded me of a time when I needed peace and found it hidden inside myself.
