Looking Back on 2018

Originally posted December 2018

2018 has been a year of highs and lows for me. As this year comes close… as I’m thinking of the highs the following come to mind:
1. I was immersed in school, learning new, challenging information and skills.
2. I overcame my fear of science!
3. I made several amazing NEW friends.
4. I made High Honors every term.
5. I completed Medical Office Professional program.
6. Reinvested in an OLD friendship.
7. I transformed my perspective (work in-progress)

I am incredibly grateful for all of these wonderful experiences, and the friends and family who have supported me on this journey.

There were downs, of course, but these were either motivators for something good, or lessons I needed to learn.

Looking into 2019:
1. Continue Perspective transformation.
2. Work on continuity in my habits.
3. Self-care: gut health, strength of body and spirit, and better sleep.
4. Career: a meaningful job.
5. Financial freedom.

What are your highlights for 2018? No matter how tough it was, there were good things: bring the good stuff with you! Leave the rest in 2018.

What are your intentions for 2019? I like to think in terms of intentions rather than “Resolutions.”

WHY? Because intentions are on-going. Intentions are “progress not perfection.” Resolutions are pass/fail.

Just Keepin’ it REAL

This whole “quarantine” Social Distancing thing… Great intentions but making me feel a little LOONEY!!

Things I’ve been doing:

  • Working a few VERY LONG DAYS
  • Panicking over scheduling issues and hiring practices
  • Calming down and coming up with solutions (Thank You, to my mentor and boss)
  • Not sleeping great
  • Having panic attack
  • Calming down from panic attack
  • Doing (very little) art*
  • Doing Daily Gratitude*
  • Catching up on shows (Outlander fans?)
  • Watching fun, family friendly movies
  • Taking walks, sitting outside*
  • Texting with friends, and a few phone calls*
  • Snuggling with pets*
  • Snuggling with my hubby and daughter*
  • Cleaning (probably should do more)

* I need to ADD more of THESE!

How are you?

What is your “go-to” feel better thing?

Random Thoughts

Positivity In A Time of Crisis

During this time of social quarantine, school closures, supply panic and constant news loop of pandemic updates… try centering yourself.

Remember:

  • Who you are
  • What you believe in (faith)
  • What you value
  • Where your power lies (with YOU)
  • Take time to find forms of expression: art, writing, crafts, cooking…
  • Where do you find peace? Go there
  • Find ways to ground yourself in the HERE and NOW: meditation, music, breathing exercises

Stay strong! This too, shall pass. We will learn lessons and use them to be better prepared and more assured in the future.

Blessings

International Women’s Day

Having a daughter, this means so much. It reminds me to be my best self and a strong example of what it means to be a working woman, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend, an influence on the people and community around me.

  • Live your truth in action
  • Know what you believe and why
  • Have a moral compass and live by it
  • Be true to your core values, and know what they are
  • Be responsible for your choices
  • Only YOU know how to find your happiness… listen to your inner voice
  • Trust your instincts
  • Love yourself fully: embrace your strengths and acknowledge your weaknesses

Be true to YOU. You’re not in competition with anyone but yourself.

Grounding Tips for Anxiety

As a person who struggles with anxiety, I am always looking for good “tools.” This technique was taught to us by my daughter’s therapist, and it WORKS

Honesty: Breaking Free

An Original, Feb 2020

I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want. AND what I’m afraid to ask for. Here is my list:

  • A close circle of friends I can ALWAYS depend on.
  • A Great Community of Women who enjoy sharing, supporting, and encouraging each other
  • EVE: Empowerment Vitality Evolution (living my mission)
  • Time and money to participate in growth opportunities that interest me.
  • To have AND be a LIFE COACH
  • Having an Accountability Buddy
  • More Romance in my life.
  • Making productive time for my mental and physical health (accountability buddy)
  • Adventure!
  • Being a leader (which scares the CRAP out of me!)

What are the things your HEART yearns for, but you’re afraid to put into words?

Food for thought…

EVE: Empowerment Vitality Evolution

Angelic Westfall, February 2020

2019 was an amazing year for me. There were huge highs: finally getting a full-time job, the courage to start EVE, the courage to share my thoughts and stories in hopes of encouraging and inspiring other women to do the same.

The lows have been there too: body pain I have difficulty dealing with and overcoming, finding consistency in my self care that I can do even when my body and mind rebels, accepting that I need help from others… and they will not be doing tasks on my time-line or to my level, and learning to accept the help and the effort to which those who are able are comfortable and capable of giving.

On the whole, I count 2019 a year of victories.

How do you rate 2019?

What are you looking forward to in 2020?

For me, my Dream and my Goal, is to see EVE pull together as a supportive online community where we can share: where we are, where we want to be, allow others to encourage and share in our victories, commiserate and support in our defeats, and carry us through to our next inspired action.

Join me in my Dream!

Don’t Quit

A video I did last year.

Rings true today as I am struggling with back pain and forced to do almost nothing.

Working on staying positive and looking on the bright side: I’m better today than yesterday, and I work from home where I can do a lot via cell phone and laptop.

Be Brave, Friends! Don’t Quit!!

The Meaning of Life

Shakespeare

I believe each person has many gifts BIG and SMALL.

Do you know what your gifts are?

How do you use them?

I see my gifts as being a helper, advocate, and a friend. I LOVE helping others. In Big and Small ways.

Second to that… gifts and creativity. I use them as often as I can.
